During the winter of 2003/2004 the 18th century barn at the rear of the
farmhouse was converted to a bed and breakfast wing, incorporating the
exposed oak framing to retain the original historic atmosphere.
Because there is a large deepwater pond in the grounds, we are unable to
accommodate children. Our three double bedrooms have therefore been fitted
and furnished to the highest standard of comfort and accommodation, to suit
the discerning adult. We have been awarded "5-stars" by
VisitBritain Quality in Tourism with a Gold Award accolade and pride
ourselves on providing our guests with this highest possible level of
service and hospitality. For the comfort of all our guests, we operate a no
smoking policy.
The
new facility has oak flooring and high quality French oak furniture
throughout. The bedrooms have modern en-suite facilities including power
showers and heated towel rails. Ample luxury towels and crisp bed linen are
provided.
Each room has the latest LCD flat screen TV with digital Freeview,
bedside radio / alarm / CD player, hair dryer, telephone, refrigerator and
mini-safe. Kentish Hills mineral water and fresh milk are provided, and a
hospitality tray with an assortment of teas and coffees. Wireless internet
access can be provided to your laptop computer.
Barclay Farmhouse breakfasts are a little different as we like you to
have something special every day, especially if you happen to stay a while.
We do try to cook healthily, but you will still enjoy a hearty breakfast –
just cooked a bit differently to the traditional English. Fresh fruit salad
is in abundance as are yoghurts and gorgeous cereals, dried fruit selection
and various juices, seeded batch bread for your toast, hot crumpets and
buttery croissants and even special breads on occasion. Our cooked collation
of eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes will be delivered to your table in a
completely different form each morning – it does get a little difficult when
guests stay two weeks, but we do try! We are also happy to cater for
different diets – nothing is too much trouble – just please let us know at
the time of booking. All our food is selected carefully, especially our
fresh fruit salad which is bought in and prepared daily and we do use
organic and locally sourced produce too. We enjoy making your breakfast a
very special and memorable start to the day.
Barclay Barn has already become a favourite location for brides'
pre-nuptial accommodation, to prepare for the big day, and for their leaving
photographs. We are delighted to make the start of their wedding a very
special occasion. Barclay Barn is also becoming first choice for the
honeymoon night!
